Elderly Man Found Dead Near Inwood Stretch Of Harlem River, Police Say

The 73-year-old man's body was pulled from the Harlem River on Tuesday morning.

INWOOD, NY — A man was found dead Tuesday morning floating in the Harlem River near University Heights Bridge in Inwood, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.

Police responded to a call of a man's body floating in the river near the West 207th Street bridge shortly after 9 a.m., police told Patch. Upon arrival, the NYPD Harbor Unit discovered the body of a 73-year-old man who was unconscious and unresponsive, police said.

The NYPD Harbor Unit transported the man's body to the Peter Jay Sharpe Boathouse in Harlem River Park where he was pronounced dead on the scene by EMS, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.

The man has not been identified and the medical examiner's office will investigate the official cause of death, police told Patch.
