Man Jumps To Death From George Washington Bridge, Police Say

The jumper, described as a white man in his 50s, was found floating in the Hudson River Thursday morning, police said.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A man leapt off the George Washington Bridge to his death Thursday morning, an NYPD spokeswoman told Patch.

A white man who appears to be in his 50s jumped from the lower level of the Washington Heights bridge into the Hudson River, police told Patch. His body was found floating in the river around 7 a.m. in the vicinity of West 125th Street — about 50 blocks south of the George Washington Bridge, police said.

The NYPD harbor unit was able to pull the body to shore on the 125th Street pier, where EMS pronounced the man dead on the scene, police told Patch.

The man was not identified, and the medical examiner will investigate the official cause of death, police said.
