Man Mugged In Washington Heights Subway Station, Police Say
A 23-year-old man was approached by a stranger who punched him multiple times and tried to steal his phone.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a man who violently mugged someone inside a Washington Heights subway station late last month, police told Patch. The NYPD released photos of the suspect (seen above) recently.
A 23-year-old man was waiting on the platform of the Saint Nicholas Avenue and West 181 Street subway station around 9 a.m. on Oct. 21 when he was approached by a stranger, police told Patch. The unknown man began to punch the victim several times, throwing him to the ground, police said.
While the victim was on the ground, the mugger tried to steal his cellphone, but ended up fleeing the scene empty handed, police said.

The victim suffered bruises and cuts to his face and was taken to an area hospital for treatment, police told Patch.
The suspect is described as a man in his 20s who was last wearing a red shirt and a red hat, police told Patch.
