Man Shot, Killed On Washington Heights Corner, Police Say

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A man was fatally shot on a Washington Heights street corner early Sunday morning, police said.

Yadel Garcia, 27, was standing on Broadway and West 175th Street just after midnight Sunday when a group of men approached him, police said. One of the men opened fire and shot Garcia multiple times in the back, police said.

Garcia was taken to Columbia University Medical Center by a private vehicle and was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

Police are investigating the shooting, but have not named a suspect or made an arrest.

Garcia was a resident of Thayer Street in Inwood, police said.
