Man Shot On Washington Heights Corner By Bike-Riding Robber, Officials Say

A man was shot Tuesday afternoon on the corner of Broadway and West 169th Street, police and fire officials said.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A man was shot on a Washington Heights street corner Tuesday afternoon and the gunman has not been caught, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.

A 25-year-old man was shot on Broadway and West 169th Street shortly after 3 p.m., police and fire officials told Patch. The victim was approached by a man riding a bicycle who demanded the victim's property, an NYPD spokesman told Patch. After the victim handed over cash, the bike-riding robber shot him in the foot before fleeing the scene, police told Patch.

The victim was taken to New York Presbyterian hospital, but was not transported by EMS, an FDNY spokesman said. The man is expected to survive the gunshot wound, an NYPD spokesman said.

Police are still investigating the shooting and have not identified a suspect, an NYPD spokesman told Patch. The shooter was wearing a gray hoodie and blue jeans, police said.
