Man Slashed In Washington Heights Subway Station, Police Say

A 24-year-old was slashed in the hand after arguing with another man on a 1 train.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a man wanted in connection with a slashing that occurred in a Washington Heights subway station, police said.

A 24-year-old man got into an argument with an unidentified man Saturday night while riding a southbound 1 train through uptown Manhattan, police said. The argument led to a physical fight between, police said.

During the fight, the unidentified man pulled out a knife and slashed the 24-year-old on the left hand, police said. The slasher fled the train when it arrived at the West 157th Street and Broadway station shortly before 7:30 p.m., police said.

The victim suffered a laceration to his hand and was taken to Columbia Presbyterian hospital, police said. The victim was treated for his injuries and released from the hospital.

Police released a photo (seen above) of the suspect on Tuesday. The man is described as standing about 5-foot-7 and weighing 160 pounds, police said. He was last seen wearing a black v-neck shirt.
