Man Sought In Fatal Washington Heights Shooting, Police Say

The NYPD has named a suspect in a fatal Dec. 3 shooting that occurred on a Washington Heights street corner.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — The NYPD has identified a man wanted for a fatal Washington Heights shooting, police said.

Lee Almonte, 31, has been named a suspect in the Dec. 3 shooting of 27-year-old Yadel Garcia, police said. Garcia was standing on Broadway and West 175th Street just after midnight when Almonte and a group of men approached him, police said.

Almonte opened fire and shot Garcia multiple times in the back, police said.

Garcia was taken to Columbia University Medical Center by a private vehicle and was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said. Garcia was a resident of Thayer Street in Inwood, police said.

Almonte (pictured above) is described as standing about 5-foot-11 and weighing approximately 180 pounds. The accused shooter has brown eyes and black hair, police said.
