Man Stabbed In Inwood Bodega Doorway, Police Say

The victim was stabbed after fighting with a man in front of the store.

INWOOD, NY – The NYPD is searching for a man who stabbed another man in the doorway of an Inwood bodega early Tuesday morning, police told Patch.

The stabbing victim — an unidentified 26-year-old man — was standing in front of a bodega on the corner of Sherman Avenue and West 207th Street around 5:10 a.m. Tuesday, when he was approached by another man, police said. The two men started fighting in front of the store, police said.

When the fight was over, the 26-year-old went to enter the bodega and was stabbed in the back while in the doorway, police told Patch. The suspect (pictured above) fled the scene of the crime, police told Patch.

The victim was treated for his injuries at Harlem Hospital, police said.

The NYPD released a short surveillance photo which captures the moment the victim was stabbed. The video shows the suspect pull a sharp object from his jacket pocket and approach the bodega doorway. As the door is closing behind the victim, the suspect lunges forward, stabbing the victim in the right side of his back.

The suspect is described as a man with long, curly hair, police said. The man was wearing blue jeans, a blue and white track jacket and black sneakers at the time of the stabbing, police told Patch.
