Man Struck, Killed by 1 Train in Washington Heights Subway Station

A man was hit and killed by a 1 train while lying on the tracks of the 168th St. subway station.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A man was found dead on the tracks of the 168th St. subway station in Washington Heights early Friday morning, the New York Daily News first reported.

The man was struck and killed by a bronx-bound 1 train around 1 a.m. Friday, police told the Daily News. Paramedics responded to the scene but were not able to save the man, according to the Daily News.

The man was reportedly lying down on the tracks before he was struck by the train, DNAinfo reported. The train operator saw the man and attempted to break, but it was too late to avoid hitting the man, police told DNAinfo.

The man has not been identified and it is unclear as to why the man was lying on the tracks, police told the news outlets.
