The Washington Heights robbery set off a chain of events that led to a bodyguard fatally shooting a man he was hired to protect.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A man is facing charges for robbing a drug dealer who was shot and killed by his own bodyguard in the commotion after the stick up, police told Patch.

Jason Castillo, 25, was arrested Saturday and charged with robbery, criminal use of a firearm and conspiracy to sell and distribute narcotics, police told Patch. Castillo, from Harlem, and an accomplice robbed two drug dealers in Washington Heights late last month. One of the dealers was fatally shot, police said.

Castillo and his partner, who had not been caught as of Monday, met up with Jose Nunez, 43, and an unidentified 31-year-old man on Oct. 29 inside the parking garage of a Washington Heights building for a drug deal, police said.

During the deal, Castillo and his partner attacked Nunez and stole the drugs, police said.

The robbery set off a bizarre chain of events in which a man hired to protect Nunez ended up fatally shooting him in the head, the Daily News first reported. The bodyguard has not yet been caught, but police released a photo of the suspect. The man is in his 20s or 30s and stands about 5-foot-10 and weighs around 160 pounds, police said.
