New 'Hamilton' Leads Announced: What's Next for Washington Heights Native Lin-Manuel Miranda?

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Washington Heights' native son Lin-Manuel Miranda is set to end his run as the star of the broadway smash hit "Hamilton," July 9. Miranda also wrote the musical, which racked up 16 nominations and 11 wins at this year's Tony Awards.
Starting July 11, Miranda will be replaced by his alternate Javier Muñoz. The musical also welcomes new cast members Brandon Victor Dixon and Lexie Lawson who will play Aaron Burr and Eliza Hamilton respectively.
But "Hamilton," and fans don't have to worry about a lack of Miranda in their lives after he leaves the show because the star is working on many future projects.

Miranda wrote the music for the Disney film "Moana," which is set for a November release.
In addition to his work on Moana, Miranda is also teaming up with Disney for its "Mary Poppins" sequel, Variety reported. Miranda will star alongside Emily Blunt in the film that is set to release in 2018. Miranda will be playing a new character named Jack, Variety reported.

But until then you'll have to settle for listening to the "Hamilton" soundtrack on repeat.
