Ranger Rob Saves Injured Hawk In Fort Tryon Park: PHOTOS
A good Samaritan spotted an injured Red-Tailed Hawk on a walking path in Inwood. She made a call and Ranger Rob was on his way.

INWOOD, NY — An injured uptown hawk had a reason to be grateful last week after it got help from a good Samaritan and an NYC Parks ranger.
The hurt Red-Tailed Hawk was spotted on a path to Fort Tryon's Alpine Garden in Inwood.

An unnamed good Samaritan reached out to the Urban Park Rangers staff, who quickly sent someone to the scene.

"HAWK HELPED! Thanks to a wonderful good Samaritan, we were alerted to an injured hawk in Fort Tryon. Ranger Rob of NYC Parks was quick to respond to our call for help! He inspected the first-year hawk, and safely delivered him to the Wild Bird Fund for Rehabilitation," the Fort Tryon Park Trust wrote on its Facebook page.
The Wild Bird Fund is a nonprofit that rehabilitates over 3,000 sick, injured or orphaned creatures each year and releases them back into the wild.

The woman who initially spotted the injured hawk stayed with the bird until Ranger Rob arrived.
"I have seen that hawk circling overhead while walking in the park," one Facebook commenter wrote. "Happy to know there are good people to help."
