Toddler Survives After Plunging Off Washington Height Fire Escape

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A toddler fell from a second-floor fire escape in Washington Heights Friday, according to police.

The child, who a police spokesperson said was two or three years old, tumbled from the second floor of a building located at 3923 Broadway, between 164th Street and 165th Street.

"Doesn't seem to be in too bad a shape, believe it or not," the police spokesperson told Patch when asked about the toddler's condition.

The hard-nosed child was transported to Columbia Hospital, where they were treated for a minor ankle injury, according to a police spokesperson.

The exact fashion in which the toddler fell from the fire escape is currently unknown. However, a police spokesperson told Patch it had to with an accident involving the window space next to an air conditioner within the apartment.

Police ruled there was no criminality in the incident.
