Washington Heights Fire: 2 Children Seriously Injured
The fire broke out Tuesday morning on the 30th floor of a high-rise building in Washington Heights.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Two children were seriously injured when a fire broke out Tuesday morning in a high-rise apartment in Washington Heights, an FDNY spokesman told Patch.
Firefighters responded to 32-story high-rise 1370 St. Nicholas Ave. when an apartment on the 30th floor caught fire around 4:50 a.m., an FDNY spokesman said. More than 80 firefighters were on scene at the building, located near the Cross Bronx Express between West 178th and 179th streets, and had the fire under control by 5:25 a.m.
Two children — of unknown age and gender — were taken to Columbia Medical Center in serious but stable condition, an FDNY spokesman told Patch.

The Fire Marshall's office will investigate the cause of the fire, an FDNY spokesman said.
