Washington Heights Salon Doubled As Gambling Den, Report Says
City lawyers are trying to shut down a Washington Heights salon that was raided in July.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A beauty salon in Washington Heights has been accused as doubling as a gambling den and hiring unlicensed masseuses, DNAinfo first reported.
City lawyers are moving to shut down J's Glam Beauty Center, located on Broadway near West 177th Street, after salon employees took bets from for the "Dominican Lottery" from undercover officers, DNAinfo reported. A spokesman for the city Law Department confirmed that a lawsuit was filed against the salon but told Patch that court papers had not yet been served.
In addition to taking bets, the salon also skirted regulations. An undercover officer reportedly paid the salon $60 for a massage by an employee who was tipped $20, DNAinfo reported. The man was not licensed to work as a masseuse, according to the report.
