Woman Robbed In Dyckman Houses Elevator, Police Say

A man followed the woman into the elevator before robbing her.

INWOOD, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a man wanted in connection with a robbery at an Inwood public housing development, police said.

A woman was robbed Wednesday in an apartment complex that's part of the Dyckman Houses development run by the New York City Housing Authority, police said. The woman was followed into an elevator by a man around 3:45 p.m., police said.

Once both people were inside the elevator, the man covered the woman's mouth and forcibly stole her cell phone and cash, police said. The man fled the elevator and left the building after the robbery, police said.

The woman was not injured during the robbery, police said.

The suspect is described as a man in his early 50s standing 5-foot-7 and weighing about 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing all black, police said.
