Woman's Decomposing Body, Man With Dementia Found In Inwood Building, Police Say

Police found a dead body and a man covered in his own urine and feces while checking on a foul smell in the Inwood building.

INWOOD, NY — Police discovered a woman's body and a man suffering from dementia while examining an Inwood building this weekend.

Police responded to the building on Seaman Avenue near Academy Street around 6:30 a.m. Saturday to follow up on reports of a foul smell, an NYPD spokesman told Patch. When officers checked the building they found a 73-year-old man in the building's living room and the decomposing body of a 63-year-old woman in another room, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.

The man was incoherent and suffering from dementia, police said. When he was found, he was sitting in his own urine and feces and was transported to an area hospital for examination, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.
