How Do We Begin to Feel Better?

If you want to start feeling better, right now, today, you have to change your mind. Everyone wants to feel better. Even if you feel great, there is always room to feel better.

The way to do that is to change the mindset you have had up to now, for a new one. Take accountability and responsibility for your life. Start to pay attention to the Four Agreements, (see below).

Even if it seems as if the source of your current state of mind or problems are someone or something else, it’s not. We teach people how to treat us and then we choose to let that treatment affect the quality of the life we lead. Or if it an illness you are dealing with, there are still ways you can begin to heal. Recognizing the difference between healing and cure is a gift you can give yourself. Then in turn, you give it to your loved ones as well.

So let’s start by stop looking at all the things that are out of our control (which are most things, even our kids!) and start looking at what is within our control.

The things that are within our control are our minds and our bodies. (And that is a lot! In fact, it’s everything!)

We make a decision to allow outside influences affect us in a negative way or a positive way but make no mistake, we control the outcome.

So what can we do? Consistent practice is the key to feeling better. You can start by consistently surrounding yourself with positive people who give you a lift up. You can move your body, everyday. You can control what you put in and what you put on your body. You can seek more peace in your life through Reiki, breath work, meditation and yoga. There are many ways to start to feel better. The key is consistency.

We all have the ability within us to self heal. Just like Dorothy and those ruby slippers, she had it in her all along. (Gee Glynda, thanks for telling me before I had to meet flying monkeys.) Sometimes, you can’t appreciate what peace feels like until you meet some flying monkeys of your own. Then you can better understand what it is you seek. Everything is a gift bringing you closer to home. Closer to who you really are.
