Southampton Town 375th Anniversary Events
This weekend, there will be several events commemorating the Town's anniversary.

Southampton Town will be hosting several events this weekend to celebrate the 375th anniversary of the settling of the town.
The first settlers of the town landed at Conscience Point on June 12, 1640.
“As the first English settlement in New York State, our diversified cultures and exquisite landscapes continue to make Southampton a very special place to live and visit,” a Southampton Town pamphlet reads.

Events that will be taking place this weekend to commemorating the Town’s birthday include:
- Moby-Dick Marathon Reading - Friday, June 12, 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, June 13, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Sunday, June 14, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Canio’s Books, 290 Main Street in Sag Harbor. The Marathon will start and end at Canio’s and move around to other great Sag Harbor institutions. Costumes are encouraged, and there will be a celebration party on Sunday afternoon. - 375th Celebration and Rededication of 1640 Monument - Saturday, June 13, starting at 9 a.m. Conscience Point Historic Site and Nature Trail, Conscience Point Road in North Sea. This all-day family event includes Shellfish Hatchery programs, a Rotary Clambake and a picnic at North Sea Community Center to acknowledge North Sea’s ancient past, the 1640 landing of English pioneers and the founding of Southampton. - A 375th Birthday Celebration in Sag Harbor - Saturday, June 13, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sag Harbor Whaling and Historical Museum, 200 Main Street in Sag Harbor. The celebration will include music, games, and refreshments on the grounds of the Museum and the Custom House. Maritime music by Stephen Sanfillipo, Wild Animal Education Program from the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Center, and a special puppetry workshop with Goat on a Boat Puppet Theatre. - Re-creation of historic walk (with Southampton Historical Museum, Southampton Trails Preservation Society and The Rogers Memorial Library) - Sunday, June 14, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. From Conscience Point in North Sea to Olde Town in Southampton Village (5 miles).
