Big Library Read is officially underway, with more than 7,500 libraries participating from 10 countries across five continents. Millions of people are being invited to simultaneously read master storyteller Michael Malone’s The Four Corners of the Sky, a novel about love, secrets and the mysterious bonds of family. Malone brings characters to life as only he can, exploring the questions that defy easy answers: Is love a choice or a calling? Why do the ties of family bind so tightly? And is forgiveness a gift to others…or a gift we give ourselves?
Suffolk County residents with a library card can participate in the Big Library Read via Live-brary.com. Just click onto “Free Downloads” or “eBooks” and then click on the book jacket under “Big Library Read.”
The Big Library Read was designed by the National Endowment for the Arts to revitalize the role of literature in American culture and to encourage citizens to read for pleasure and enlightenment. It is a pilot program in which libraries worldwide offer a single eBook to their patrons. In addition to creating a global “library book club,” Big Library Read is designed to demonstrate the positive exposure and sales influence library eBook catalogs provide to authors and publishers. It spotlights one title for a set time period for library patrons around the world to read simultaneously.
