• Marine Bureau Police Officers Deploy Hovercraft to Rescue Family Stranded on Boat in Fire Island Inlet (longisland.com) — A Copiague family was safely rescued after their boat ran aground in the Fire Island Inlet, with Suffolk County Police deploying a hovercraft to reach them at low tide. Their two-year-old was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip with minor injuries, while the rest of the family was unhurt after the late-night ordeal.
