WHITE PLAINS, NY — United States Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of New York visited the YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester Tuesday and brought along a big check.

She announced the organization will receive $640,000 in federal funds as part of the bipartisan omnibus appropriations agreement for the fiscal year 2022.

Gillibrand was joined by U.S. Rep. “The pandemic has greatly hindered the scholastic, social and physical development of our students, and investing in afterschool and educational programs such as Children’s Learning Center and Kids Connection will help them bounce back stronger than ever," she said. "I am also proud that we were able to secure funding for the Westchester Center for Racial Equity. Together, we are laying the foundation for our community’s future.”

Jones said he was thrilled to have helped pass the appropriations bill so the YWCA continue serving communities throughout New York’s 17th Congressional District.

“From providing child care, early education, and after-school activities like gymnastics and swimming to serving people with developmental disabilities, the YWCA’s contributions to our communities cannot be overstated," he said.

Roach said the YWCA was a vital resource for the city, serving residents of all ages through myriad programs.

"These funds represent an investment in our children and our community and we greatly appreciate the efforts of Senator Gillibrand in obtaining them,” he said.
