ICE Releases White Plains HS Grad Arrested In Syracuse
Authorities called her arrest and detention a misunderstanding.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — The White Plains High graduate who was detained by immigration authorities last week was released from the Buffalo Federal Detention Facility Monday after federal immigration authorities called it a misunderstanding. Lissette Rodriguez-Cortes, 22, had been held for four days after being after being arrested at a Syracuse bus stop.
A spokesman for the border patrol said Rodriguez-Cortes did not have any U.S. Immigration documents in her possession, but she was released after she was able to prove her immigration status, the Journal News said.
Rodriguez-Cortes is now at home and with her family.

She is a student at Bryant & Stratton College in Syracuse and is set to graduate in May.
Rodriguez-Cortes has Special Immigration Juvenile Status, and has been waiting for a visa to become available so she can apply for a green card.

She came to the U.S. from Mexico with her family when she was 14.
