Red-Light Cameras In White Plains Yield 35K Violations

The city had to receive state approval to install the cameras.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — It's only been 17 months since White Plains installed red-light cameras at key intersections, and so far, more than 35,000 violations have been issued.

From August 2018 through December 2019, the City of White Plains has collected more than $2.4 million from violations picked up by the cameras, the Journal News reported.

White Plains had to receive state approval for the red-light cameras at its 12 intersection.

New Rochelle, Yonkers and Mount Vernon also have authorization for red-light cameras.
