1,000 Stories Campaign- Group Sessions

What happens when you put 4 people around a table to talk about cancer & what Relay for Life means to them? Watch this video to see!

I had the idea to figure out what Relay for Life means to Relayers....

So I asked a few of my committee members if they would help me out with this. The 4 of us- all who have such different experiences with cancer- sat together around a table & simply, talked.

I prompted them with the question of, "why do you Relay?", and then the next 15 minutes were unscripted, unrehearsed and completely genuine. When I watched the footage back, I was so excited.

I was excited because I felt that this was such a great way for people to get to know us & our intentions. But I also felt like so many people who will watch this, can probably relate to some of the things we were describing. I found Relay at a time where I was looking for community when I had no idea how to feel or act while my aunt was going through treatment. Relay & my Relay family was there for me when I needed them most. And I bet you that's true for so many people.

Let me tell you a little bit about the group of us in this first round of group sessions.

Jim will be celebrating his 25th year of Relay this year! He brings the humor to our group but also years of experience and expertise that have helped us approach our planning successfully!

Sue has been Relaying for 10 years now! I refer to Sue as my Relay angel, she's always there whenever anybody needs her! We've also learned- if there's something you need- Sue has it!

Lisa just finished her second year Relaying! Lisa came to us after she was diagnosed with cancer & she brings such a vibrancy & positive attitude to our committee! She is determined to raise funds & make a difference!

Then there's me! 2018 will be my 6th year of Relay & this is the year I'm hoping to make my mark!

This video is the first part of 3 for our group sessions. Each video dives in deeper to what Relay has meant to us and why it keeps us coming back year after year!
