Even animals have been known to laugh, but humans often need someone standing at a microphone telling great stories, anecdotes, or jokes to lead them into paroxysms of laughter. That opportunity comes to Croton Falls Saturday, June 28, at 8 pm, when The Schoolhouse Theater presents a stand-up comedy night with Sergio Chicon, Mick Diflo and Adam Oliensis.
Organized by Oliensis of LoHud Comedy, the comics have collectively appeared on Letterman, The Late Late Show, The Tonight Show, Conan O'Brien, and Comedy Central. A regular on Comedy Central, MTV and Gotham Comedy, Chicon is known for his character, "Frank Leo, Construction Worker," based somewhat on his earlier experiences. Coming out of the sketch-group Hazmat, Diflo is a favorite in NYC clubs and has also been a contributing writer to "The Idiot's Guide to Jokes," Jest Magazine, and The Huffington Post.
Oliensis explores in comedy "the lessons in humility he learns from his wife and children." Having opened for Robert Klein, Colin Quinn and Larry Miller, he also co-authored the movie "The Pompatus of Love." As an actor, Oliensis has appeared on Broadway, Off Broadway, in the movies, on episodic TV, and in hundreds of TV and radio commercials.

Responding to requests for expanded programming, Schoolhouse Executive Director James Shearwood said, "Comedy has always been a big part of the plays we do (i.e., the current production of Murray Schisgal's Luv), so it was logical to schedule a night of stand-up comics having a direct connection to the audience."
Comic Lewis Black, who has appeared previously at The Schoolhouse has said, "Stand-up is a great theater exercise because it's the only thing in which you write it, act it and direct it simultaneously."
