Lakeland's Emily Alicea is most definitely a sharp shooter and she showed why in the Hornets' home 50-40 triumph against Putnam Valley Jan. 10 when she registered a game-high 22 points.

Boys youth hoops win
The Yorktown boys defeated Scarsdale 43-37 Jan. 8 in the sixth grade A division of the Tri-County Basketball League, improving its record to 2-2.
