Assistant Principals Sharpen Their Leadership Skills

Thematic learning, integration of technology in the classroom and outreach to non-English Speaking parents were among the topics presented Thursday at the final meeting of the Assistant Principals Academy at Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES.

The Academy, the first of its kind, is specifically designed to meet the professional development needs of assistant principals through a series of monthly, highly interactive sessions on leadership topics. It is offered by the Center for Educational Leadership at PNW BOCES in conjunction with the School Administrators Association of New York State and the Assistant Principals Association of Westchester and Putnam counties.

“Assistant principals are really on the front lines when it comes to interacting with students, teachers and parents,” said BOCES Superintendent James Langlois. “It is an enormously important and challenging job.”
