BOCES Recognizes Somers’ Nicole Roublick as a Student of Distinction

Nicole Roublick, a student from the Somers Central School District who attends Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES’ Fox Meadow Middle School, was named a Student of Distinction for June and was recognized at a Board of Education meeting at Somers Middle School on June 10.

Fox Meadow Principal Fred Santoli presented the award to Nicole’s father, John, noting her many accomplishments.

“Nicole has overcome many challenges in her life,” Santoli said. “This year she came to a new setting to interact with new people, and she’s really stepped up in a way that has impressed her teachers and everyone who has come into contact with her. Overall, we are astounded by the growth this young lady has made and how she has embraced independence to become a large part of our school community.”

Roublick was also recognized for her academic achievements, which include making the school’s honor roll and receiving not only the Science Student of the Week Award, but the Spanish Student of the Week Award as well. In addition, Roublick was also identified as an avid reader and a member of Fox Meadow’s Animal Rescue Club. Due to a scheduling conflict, Nicole was unable to attend the award ceremony.

“We’re very proud of Nicole and of this award,” Mr. Roublick said. “She’s been excelling the past couple of years in particular and has become quite the responsible young lady. It’s great to see, and I’m very proud of her.”
