Caffrey at Providence: Yorktown Daily Sports Digest March 14

Men's Lacrosse

Former Lakeland/Panas lacrosse All-American Robert Caffrey (Lakeland '11) is now playing the sport at Providence College.

The freshman attackman and his teammates lost a tough one in their most recent contest, 11-9 at Manhattan College March 3.

Providence's next game is against visiting Georgetown at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 17.

Lax Competition

The Lakeland/Panas  and Yorktown boys lacrosse squads will be competing in Conference I League A with Mahopac, John Jay and Somers.

States Suspended? 

It isn't certain how many more New York State Public High School Athletic Association state tournaments will be held in the future.

That's because there has been talk about suspending state tournaments in all sports, for two years, because of financial reasons, beginning in the 2013-14 school year, according to Rich Thomaselli's fine work on MSG Varsity.
