CareMount Medical Appoints Dr. Richard Morel As Its New Deputy Chief Medical Officer

As Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Morel will be responsible for managing physician operations and group-wide initiatives

CareMount Medical, the largest independent multi-specialty medical group in New York State, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Richard Morel as the medical group’s new Deputy Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Morel will be responsible for managing CareMount Medical’s physician operations in Putnam, Dutchess and Ulster Counties, as well as group-wide initiatives.

Dr. Morel has a comprehensive management background in all aspects of clinical, operational, financial, risk and strategic matters. Prior to joining CareMount Medical, Dr. Morel was the Co-Medical Director and Vice President of WestMed in Purchase, NY, where he was responsible for overseeing physicians across the group. From 1998 to 2008, he served as Medical Director for Columbia Presbyterian Riverdale.

Dr. Morel is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He graduated from College of the Holy Cross with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chemistry. After receiving his Medical Degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, he completed his postgraduate training at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. He also received a Master of Medical Management Degree from Carnegie Mellon University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the American College of Physician Executives.
