Emergency Shelter Open In Somers Through Snow Emergency

The supervisor cautions that the weather is worsening and that should be considered before traveling to the shelter.

SOMERS, NY — Somers Town Supervisor Rick Morrisey said that residents should remember that the emergency shelter at the Heritage Hills Activity Center is currently open and will remain open until the state of emergency ends on Saturday, March 10, 2018.

The Red Cross will be serving hot dinner at the emergency shelter. All residents without power are invited to the shelter to warm up and have dinner and hot coffee.

The last supply of dry ice and water will be available today starting at 12:30 p.m. at the Somers Middle School until 6 p.m. or until it runs out whichever comes first.

Be aware that the weather is progressively getting worse, please use extreme caution if you decide to travel to the shelter or to the Middle School for dry ice.
