Some super markets and even some farm markets stumble over defining “local” produce, but not the staff of Hilltop Hanover Farm. All of the produce sold at the farm stand is organically grown in a five acre plot just 200 yards away. Complementing the local produce are the products from ten truly local artisans. For example, you can select items “Baked by Susan” of Croton, NY, cheese and honey from Poughkeepsie’s Sprout Creek Farm, or White Oak’s maple syrup – also located in Yorktown. The staff at Hilltop Hanover Farm calls it “one stop shopping” plus fantastic views of New York City from its 187-acre site.
Hilltop Hanover Farm is open daily Tuesday – Sunday. The farm stand itself is open Friday through Sunday. On Friday the stand is open from 1:00 to 6:00, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 4. A unique feature of the farm is the “U Pick It” program – a favorite with young children – that is available on Saturday and Sunday. Call in advance at 962-2368 to find out what you can pick. Also, don’t forget to bring your own bags and dress for field conditions. The farm stand will be open through November.
