Hazardous Weather Outlook for Yorktown Friday

It’s finally here in full effect, the heat wave you’ve been hearing about for almost a week now.

Yes, temperatures will be in the 90s, and yes, it will be humid, but there is also severe weather predicted in the forecast on Friday.

Northern Westchester County is not only under an Air Quality Alert but also a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Friday for strong to severe thunderstorms Friday afternoon and early evening. The main threat is large hail and damaging wind gusts, according to the National Weather Service.

Once we get past today’s thunderstorms, it will be a sunny weekend, but very hot and humid with temps continuing in the low to mid 90s.

Mostly cloudy in the evening...then becoming partly cloudy. Scattered thunderstorms. Scattered showers. Patchy fog after midnight. Some thunderstorms may produce gusty winds... Small hail and heavy rainfall. Humid with lows around 70. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph in the evening. Chance of rain 50 percent.
