Help Westchester's Needy Kids Go Back to School

Helping Hands for the Homeless & Hungry, a volunteer organization based in Rye, provides thousands of homeless children in Westchester County with school supplies—and is in need of donations.

Helping Hands for the Homeless and Hungry is organizing a collection to help children living on the margins of Westchester communities get ready for the fall school year.

Save the date for their 2014 “Mission Backpack:”

~Monday, August 18: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

~Tuesday, August 19: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Donations needed are as follows:

~Gift cards of $25: This will provide a backpack filled with a scientific calculator, notebooks, binders, pencils and index cards

~Gift cards of $50: This will cover the cost of art supplies for 20 children, drawing paper, crayons and glue sticks

~Gift cards of $75: This will buy eight scientific calculators

~Gift cards of $100: This will provide a family of 4 children with school ready backpacks
