Brett was the Head Farmer at Hilltop Hanover for five years, and sadly at the age of thirty-seven passed away in December 2015 after a six-month battle with liver and bile duct cancer. His dedication and passion for farming and Hilltop Hanover have not, and will not be forgotten as the Friends of Hilltop Hanover Farm have honored his legacy by establishing the Brett Alcaro Scholarship Fund. The Fund – suggested by his wife Germaine – supports young and emerging farmers trained at Hilltop Hanover Farm. In addition, 25% of the net proceeds from this dinner continue to be secured in a college fund for Brett’s two young children.

The “Farm to Table Dinner” features a wonderful seasonal array of small organic plates prepared by local chefs and restaurants. Local hard cider, craft beer, and wine pairings complement the delicious food served. A cocktail hour - generously sponsored by Fidelity Financial - will kick off the evening under the tent. Live music will fill the air in an idyll setting of a working historic farm framed by a distant NYC skyline. Adding to the uplifting feeling of the event will be the REMAX hot air balloon, provided by REMAX Realty of Pleasantville. Tethered rides at sunset will be available with an additional contribution - weather permitting.

The Friends of Hilltop Hanover Farm are currently soliciting gifts to be part of the event’s silent auction. Local businesses and individuals are being asked to donate an item that will become part of the silent auction. Each participating business or individual will be noted in the evening’s program, highlighted within any advertising, and listed next to the product during the silent auction.

Sponsors are also being sought to assist in subsidizing the cost of the evening – especially the tent’s rental! Sponsorship opportunities range from lead sponsor of $10,000 (which may be co-sponsored) to “Farmer at Heart” for $250. The dinner provides local businesses with a way to thank and entertain clients, increases the businesses’ target market exposure, support the broader Westchester County community, while making a donation to a worthy cause. As Lucille Munz, the Farm’s executive director says, ”The support of area businesses is vital to the success of this uplifting and important community event.”

If you are interested in purchasing tickets, providing an item for the silent auction, or becoming a sponsor of the event, contact Lucille Munz, the executive director of Hilltop Hanover Farm. She may be reached at 914-962-2368. Additional details about the dinner, silent auction, and dinner sponsorship are provided on the Farm’s website: info@hilltophanoverfarm.org.
