Letter to the Editor: Opposed to Liability Insurance for Gun Owners

The writer is the NY State Assembly member for District 94.

To the Editor:

I have received dozens of calls and messages to my office regarding bill # A2260.

Let me be clear. I am 100% opposed to A2260. This proposed legislation further penalizes all law abiding gun owners in New York State. As if the so called "SAFE" Act wasn't bad enough, now members of the NYC controlled Assembly Majority are pushing for new ways to target law abiding gun owners.

A2260 would require all gun owners to purchase and maintain $250,000 worth of liability insurance. This equates to a new tax on New Yorkers who practice their constitutionally protected right to bear arms. Make no mistake, this is part of a broader scheme to make gun ownership so expensive that it prices ordinary citizens out of the market or out of our state.

I am adamantly opposed to this legislation and will continue to fight for the rights of ALL New Yorkers, including the rights of law abiding gun owners!
