Letter to the Editor: Supporting Judge Raniolo

The writer is a local lawyer and Yorktown resident.

To the Editor:

I am an attorney who has lived in Yorktown for the last 25 years. My law practice brings me into the local courts throughout Westchester County and I frequently appear in Yorktown Justice Court. I have had the good fortune of appearing before Judge Gary Raniolo on numerous occasions. Judge Raniolo brings with him to the position of Town Justice a wealth of experience and knowledge which he has acquired during his many years in private practice and as a member of the judiciary. Without exception I have always found him to be fair, reasonable and respectful to both attorneys and litigants. His main objective is always to achieve justice in the resolution of all matters which come before him. He is a man of impeccable honesty and integrity, who devotes much of his own personal time to the Yorktown Justice Court. I have appeared before hundreds of Judges in my career and can honestly say that I have found only a few who are as dedicated and hard working as Judge Raniolo.

Judge Raniolo’s opponent, Richard Abbate, has very little experience in the areas of criminal law, vehicle and traffic matters, and landlord tenant disputes. His practice consists of handling bankruptcy and foreclosure matters, neither of which are particularly germane to the position of Town Justice. Although he insisted in a recent advertisement that he does not accept endorsements, Mr. Abbate interviewed with the Westchester Putnam Central Labor Body in an effort to obtain their endorsement. They endorsed Gary Raniolo instead.
