They are fun and fashionable, but can pashmina scarves be humanitarian? They could be if they were among the dozens sold by Mahopac High School’s Create the Change club, which donated the proceeds from the recent sale to the Putnam/Northern Westchester Women’s Resource Center.
Each year Create the Change sells scarves to raise money for a charitable cause. This year club members decided to donate the $600 they raised to PNWWRC, said the club’s advisor Althea Daley, “in support of the wonderful work they do in our community.” Club members presented the check to Ann Ellsworth, the executive director of PNWWRC.
Putnam/Northern Westchester Women’s Resource Center serves more than 2,000 women, children and men annually through a shelter, 24-hour hotline, and non-residential counseling and advocacy
