
For the first time in 10 years, New York has changed its requirements for immunizations—upping the number and schedule of doses for vaccines against some diseases.
Now students need 3-5 doses of polio vaccine—4 is recommended. For chicken pox—2 instead of 1.

Discussing the new requirements, Dr. Peter Richel, Chief of Pediatrics at Northern Westchester Hospital, said In a post on the hospital’s blog, “If your child has received the required three polio vaccines in infancy, they must still receive one at the time of school entrance.”
