Man Faces DWI Charge After 1-Car Accident: Yorktown Police
Police said he drove off the roadway, striking a guardrail.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Cortlandt Manor man who was allegedly driving drunk was arrested after ending up in a one-car accident. Yorktown Police said Zeynep Canpolat, 27, of Croton Park Road in Cortlandt Manor, was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and fail to use designated lane, driving on the shoulder and disobeying a traffic control device, all traffic violations.
Police said they responded to a report of a one-car accident on Route 202 around 12:15 a.m. April 13.
An investigation found that Canpolat while traveling westbound on Route 202 allegedly drove off the roadway striking a guardrail, then back onto the road across all lanes of traffic. He ended up off the roadway on the eastbound side of Route 202.

Police said Canpolat was driving while intoxicated, drove on the shoulder, failed to stay in his lane and ignored a traffic control device.

He was taken by Yorktown Ambulance to Hudson Valley Hospital for treatment of injuries from the accident.
Canpolat was processed at the hospital and released on his own recognizance.
He is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court April 27.
