Medical Assistant student Ana Cabrera, who studies at The Tech Center at Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES, recently received the Community Center of Northern Westchester’s Dowling Educational Scholarship. The Fox Lane student’s hard work volunteering in the center was no surprise to her Tech teacher Maria Pontbriand. “The center has a donation area that has a dual ‘swap and shop’ function, where some people go to donate items and food, and others go to get food and items,” said Ms. Pontbriand. “Ana assisted those families and individuals for whom English was their second language, in navigating the procedure. I am so proud of her.” Ana, who plans to attend Westchester Community College in the fall, will study nursing.
