Mohegan Lake Lifeguard Summer Jobs Available

The Mohegan Highlands Property Owners Association is a Park District in Yorktown.  We have 3 lifeguard positions to fill for the summer.  It's not a full time job, but it pays more than Connecticut's minimum wage, which will eventually be $10.10.

Dates:

  • Beginning on May 24th, we open on Weekends.
  • June 26th, the beach opens daily.
Hours:
  • 1-8pm Monday through Friday.
  • Noon to 8pm on Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
Qualifications:
  • Certified lifeguard.
  • Dependable.
Duties:
  • Making sure our kids don't drown; no digital devices allowed when children are near the water.
  • Cleaning of beach facilities.
  • Hauling the trash and recycling to the curb at the appropriate time.
  • Rowing a rowboat to the floating dock we jump off to clean off the Canada goose poop with a broom.
  • Raking sand, so it looks pretty.
  • Being friendly.
The scene:

It's a private beach facility.  2 bathrooms, electricity, a large pavilion, outdoor shower, beach sand volley ball court, gazebo, and playground. It is lightly trafficked by residents during the week, though we do have Friday evening community gatherings beginning in July and parties will hire additional guards.  There are normally parties or events during the weekend.
So long as it's clean and no one is near the water, we're totally fine with you tanning, summer reading, playing on the internet.  It's actually quite a cushy job.  My 4 daughters will be employed by MHPOA, but the oldest is only 7 years old.

To apply, please forward 2 references and an introduction to YorktownCode@gmail.com.  Interview time slots are flexible.
