No Vote Taken On Wetlands Ordinance Changes In Yorktown
Town hall was packed for the public hearing on the proposed law.
YORKTOWN, NY — The Yorktown town board postponed a vote on changes to the municipality’s wetlands laws during a recent meeting. The proposed legislation would increase the size of wetlands on which construction could take place from 1,000 square feet to more than 4,000 square feet.
About 30 people spoke during a public hearing, after which Supervisor Michael Grace that the fifth and current draft of the ordinance would not be voted upon that night, tapinto.net reported.
One resident said that allowing construction on a 3,000-square-foot wetland in his neighborhood would likely cause flooding and deterioration of roadways.
