Putnam Man Faces Felony DWI After Car Crash In Yorktown
Police said he was also driving after his license had been revoked twice.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Putnam County man faces a felony drunk driving charge after crashing his car Sept. 3. Yorktown Police said Thomas B. Scully, 60, of Carolyn Road in Carmel, was charged with driving while intoxicated with two prior convictions in less than 10 years and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, both felonies, and numerous traffic violations.
Police said they responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash around 9:26 a.m. Sept. 3 into the woods of the dead end on Lee Boulevard. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)
An investigation found that Scully, the operator of the car, was allegedly driving drunk with two prior convictions in less than 10 years on his record; that made the charge a felony, police said.

He was also driving with no license, according to the police. It was revoked twice in June 2009 — the first time for failing to submit to a chemical test and the second for driving while intoxicated.
Police also said Scully was operating his car at an unreasonable or not prudent speed, he failed to keep right, he moved from his lane unsafely, he failed to maintain his lane, and he refused to submit to a preliminary breath test.

He also had an open container of alcohol in the car, police said.
Scully was arrested at the scene and taken to Torktown Police Department for processing.
He was arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court and bail was sent to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond.
Scully is due to reappear in court Sept. 12.
