Rapid Job Growth In 3 Hudson Valley Regions

YORKTOWN, NY — Twelve metro areas in New York added private sector jobs over the past year, according to new data from the state Department of Labor. Three Hudson Valley mini-regions were among the six with the most rapid employment growth from July 2016 to July 2017:
- New York City (+2.8%)
- Kingston (+2.5%)
- Orange-Rockland-Westchester (+2.0%)
- Watertown-Fort Drum (+1.6%)
- Dutchess-Putnam (+1.4%)
- Nassau-Suffolk (+1.3%)

Private educational and health services added the most jobs (+75,500) of any major industry sector over the past year. Sector job gains were mostly in health care and social assistance (+54,600), especially ambulatory health care (+29,900).
