Renegades Go to Bat for Support Connection

Yorktown organization receives $1,000 from baseball team to serve people affected by breast, ovarian cancer

Support Connection
Inc., a Yorktown organization that provides free, confidential support services to people affected by breast and ovarian cancer, has received a $1,000 donation from the Hudson Valley Renegades baseball team. “Show Your Support Night” Saturday, July 16, was one of the independent nonprofit organization’s kickoff events for
its annual Support-A-Walk for Breast and Ovarian Cancer.

This was the fourth year that Support Connection held a kickoff event at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, the minor-league team’s home field. In addition to the team’s donation, funds were raised from special ticket sales, and fans who attended the game received
information about the Support-A-Walk to raise awareness for the cause.

Eben Yager, general manager of the Renegades, said, "We are honored to make this $1,000 donation to Support Connection for all of their efforts locally throughout the Hudson Valley region to provide assistance to those affected by breast and ovarian
cancer.”

The Support-A-Walk, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 2, at FDR Park in Yorktown, is a 3-mile walkathon held each year to increase awareness about breast and ovarian cancer. Proceeds directly
fund Support Connection’s free, confidential support services. Each year thousands of people from across the Hudson Valley come together for this event. Participants walk in celebration of or in tribute to those affected by these
diseases.

The Renegades are a short-season Class A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. They marked Show Your Support Night by defeating the Connecticut Tigers 4-3.
