Chappaqua Doctor was Deli Shooter's Intended Target
The alleged shooter was a fired colleague, according to news reports.
CHAPPAQUA, NY — The Tuckahoe man who opened fire in a local deli Monday morning was shooting at a former medical research colleague, according to news reports.

Dr. Dennis Charney remains hospitalized. Police said this morninghis injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
According to Mount Sinai Health System, "Dennis S. Charney, MD, is Anne and Joel Ehrenkranz Dean of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and President for Academic Affairs for the Mount Sinai Health System. He is also a world expert in the neurobiology and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, making fundamental contributions to the understanding of the causes of human anxiety, fear, and depression, and the discovery of new treatment for mood and anxiety disorders."

Chao Hengjun, 49, was arraigned Monday afternoon. At the arraignment, the Westchester County Assistant District Attorney alleged that Charney was the intended target, according to news reports.

He faces a charge of second-degree murder, according to news reports.
