Storefront Window Decorating Contest
Paint the Town Purple is coming up, see what awesome new thing we have in store!
You’re probably starting to hear more & more about Relay for Life this time of year. Trust me, that’s a great thing! Relay for Life is the world’s largest fundraising event. Not only do we fundraise for research & programs for cancer patients, but we are celebrating those who have overcome a cancer battle, we are supporting those who are going through it & we are remembering those who have passed.
One of the really cool things Relay for Life does in most communities, is an event called Paint the Town Purple (or how you’ll see me abbreviate it, PTTP). If you have driven through town on a PTTP day, you would have seen some very enthusiastic people standing in the middle of a very purple decorated road holding boots. You might have rolled down your window and thrown some change in!
The goal of PTTP is getting our whole community as a whole excited & ready for Relay for Life. That day is the beginning of coming together as a town, sharing stories, and working together towards a cancer free world!

This year, we’re stepping it up & hosting a town wide window decorating contest! It’s an awesome opportunity to get our favorite local businesses involved in PTTP, spread the word about Relay as well as raise money!

But here are some details for you:
- Entry fee per storefront is $50
- The best window will win a $500 Relay for Life Sponsorship! That’s huge!
- Windows will have to be complete by Thursday, April 30 as judging will be on Friday, May 1(the date of PTTP!)
- All of the businesses who join us will be listed on this website, will get a shout out on our Relay for Life of Yorktown Facebook page, etc.
