Summer Sizzle for Most of Holiday: Somers and Yorktown's Weekend Weather

We tell you what you can expect for the 2016 Memorial Day weekend.

Yes, it’s hot. And it’s going to stay hot for a while.

And the air's already bad. Along with the high ozone and high temperatures—no, it’s not a heat wave until we’ve had three consecutive 90-degree days—there will be an increase in humidity.

That means it will feel warmer than it really is.

And with the higher humidity, there will be the chance of showers and thunderstorms every day through the Memorial Day weekend.

Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather said there is a 50/50 chance of seeing a storm both Saturday and Sunday and temps will dip on Monday.

“A frontal boundary should slip across the region Sunday night or Monday morning,” Potter said, “and drop temperatures about 5 or 10 degrees. But until then … the heat is on."

Along with the high tempertures, the Hudson Valley, from Westchester and Rockland counties up to Dutchess and Ulster counties is under an Air Quality Alert because of high ozone levels.
